This page provides an overview of the main venues which will host the London Olympics 2012 events. Details for each location will be added to provide information such as travel, event and location specific information.
The Olympic Park or Olympic Zone
The Olympic Park will provide the main venue for many of the Olympic events including the main Olympic Stadium which will host the Athletics events. Also located in the Olympic Park will be the London Velopark which will host indoor cycling; the Aquatics Centre, which will host the events of swimming, diving, synchronised swimming and also the water polo final; the basketball arena; the hockey centre and the handball arena.

Central London or Central Zone
A number of famous London sporting venues and indoor arenas will be utilised for a number of sports during the London Olympics.
- All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club at Wimbledon

Greater London the River Zone
In the wider London two existing modern venues, The O2 arena at Greenwich and the ExCel centre in London docklands will both house indoor events. Greenwich Park and the Royal Artillary Barracks at Woolwich will provide additional venues for equestrian and shooting events respectively.
- ExCeL Exhibition Centre
Boxing, Fencing, Judo, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Weightlifting and Wrestling
will be held at one of four seperate areans within the ExCeL Exhibition Centre
- O2 arena
Gymnastics, Trampolining, and the Basketball finalswill be hosted in the main O2
arena
- North Greenwich Arena 2
Rhythmic Gymnastics and Badminton will be hosted in a seperate venue at the
O2 arean named North Greenwich Arena 2
- Greenwich Park
Dressage, Eventing & Jumping equestrian events including equestrian elements of modern pentathlon
- Royal Artillery Barracks
Shooting events - rifle, pistol and shotgun
Outside London
The two biggest events to be held outside London will be sailing which will be held at Weymouth, Dorset and rowing/kayaking which will be held at Dorney Lake, Eton. Other events will be held near Broxbourne (30 km or 19 miles north), white water canoeing and Hadleigh Farm, Essex (65 km or 40 miles east) which will provide the setting for mountain biking.
- Sailing
will be based at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy, in Portland Harbour, Dorset. Weymouth is located on the south coast of Great Britain some 200 km or 120 miles south and west of London
- Rowing
will be held at Dorney Lake, Buckinghamshire, a facility owned by Eton College. Dorney Lake is located near Eton and Windsor some 40 km or 25 miles west of Central London
- Flatwater Kayak and Canoe
will be held at Dorney Lake, Buckinghamshire some 40 km or 25 miles west of Central London
- Slalom Canoeing and Slalom Kayaking
located at Broxbourne White Water Canoe Centre in the Lee Valley Regional Park in Hertfordshire which is 25 km or 15 miles north of the Olympic Park.
- Mountain Biking
wil be held at a Hadleigh Farm, Essex which is owned by the Salvation Army and is some 65 km or 40 miles east of central London
- Football
will be held at a number of existing football stadia across the whole of the nation including:
Hampden Park in Glasgow
Millennium Stadium in Cardiff
Old Trafford in Manchester
St James' Park in Newcastle
Wembley Stadium in London
The final will be held at Wembley Stadium.
